Dear friends,
This time of year is always inspiring. The winter solstice is behind us, and we get a little more light each day. It's a time of thoughtful new beginnings and welcoming brighter days ahead. What a perfect time to open a new community creative space.
Some updates for you:
- Our next work party will be this Sunday, December 28. Details below if you'd like to join us.
- We've already made excellent progress on the studio! Pictures from yesterday's work party are below.
- Wheels will be ordered soon! This is our biggest capital investment so far. Thanks to our friends at ClayPeople for hooking us up with a discount.
Our journey to open Bay Haven is just beginning. Wishing you a warm and wonderful holiday season.

Our next work party
- Sunday, December 28
- Noon to 4pm
- 768 Stewart Ct, Alameda
Many hands make light work! We'll be painting, doing some light construction, and generally going through our punchlist of things to take care of before our soft opening.
All are welcome. Bring partners, friends, even your little ones. Please wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. We have work gloves, eye and ear protection, masks for the dust, and a whole plethora of tools.
I'll do some cooking to feed everybody. If you have dietary needs, please respond to this email so I can accommodate. And feel free to bring potluck items if you're inspired.
Progress photos!
Our event yesterday was a huge success. We were a small but mighty crew, and I am absolutely blown away with the progress. The crew knocked down two entire walls! It really opens up the space.
Special thanks to our friends Jay and Susie for bringing a bunch of tools, operating in beast mode, and getting so much done in such a short amount of time. And extra special thanks to my husband Nat for project-managing the whole thing, giving me specific jobs, and teaching me how to use a socket wrench. 😘
That last photo is Susie and Nat. I swear sometimes I can't tell them apart.
We also had an extra-special helper in Susie's little one. At some point I'll probably get those work gloves back...
