LET'S THROW THINGS

Summer sessions start May 30

We're offering two sessions this summer. Session 0.1 begins at the end of this month, and session 0.2 begins the week of July 13th. Both are brief to be summer-friendly, and we wrap up before the school year begins.

Classes are intended for ages 16 and up. Students age 13–15 are welcome with a parent/guardian/caregiver enrolled in the same class.


Coil-Building Workshop

Lizette

Saturdays, 12pm–3pm • 3 classes

  • Session 0.1 begins May 30
  • Session 0.2 begins July 25

Join us for this beginner-friendly intro to coil building—an ancient, super-versatile way to make pottery using nothing but your hands and some clay "snakes."Get ready to get your hands dirty and create something amazing!

  • Build Big: Learn to stack hand-rolled coils to create tall, impressive vases and bowls.
  • Get Creative: Use paddles and pinching to morph your clay into any shape you can imagine.

Intro to Wheel (Summer Version)

Learn all the basics of wheel-throwing, in four weeks. No experience necessary.

About the artist

Lizette Sanchez is a multidisciplinary artist and Bay Area native. Her dedication to community and craft has made a lasting impact on youth and adults throughout the East Bay. She is thrilled to bring her love of handbuilding to the Bay Haven studio.

Lizette’s ceramic sculptures have appeared in several San Francisco galleries, her hands-on demonstrations have drawn crowds at the county fair, and she continues to run robust programming as Co Head of Ceramics at The Crucible Industrial Arts
