Work Party Magic Continues! Next up: Friday Jan 2.

Hi friends!

Today's work party was inspiring. Y'all sanded and primed a lot of surface area, and prepped our reclaimed wood for building tables and shelves. And more importantly, we built community — which is the whole reason we're doing this.

It might not have felt like much progress in the moment, but I gurarantee you, it's a lot. More at the bottom of this email.

My heart is full. Thank you.

If you'd like to join us for the next work party, it will be Friday, Jan 2, noon-4pm. Add it to your calendar if you'd like.

All are welcome! We'll be finishing the painting job and generally going through our punchlist of things we need to do before we open.

RSVP here - optional but helpful.

Wishing you all the best for a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year.

Janet & Chip

Today's work party was incredible.

Thank you to:

  • All of our wonderful community members and your partners who showed up and picked up a hammer or a crowbar or a paint roller;
  • Emily for loaning Chip a Sawzall when his kicked the bucket, and being generally handy and helpful;
  • Susie for fixing Chip's Sawzall, dealing with the morning glories coming through the ceiling, making sure our roof has no leaks and taking on the extra-difficult jobs;
  • Gene for doing All The Things;
  • Claire (my daughter) for sanding and painting and working the spray gun;
  • Nat (my husband) for directing people, leading the charge in the warehouse area, and generally being wonderful;
  • and everyone who showed up, even for a moment, to drop by, see the space, and wish us well.

I am so grateful to our community. When we launch, it will be because of you all.

You are such an important part of what we're launching together.

Hands shaping clay on a pottery wheel

Dear friends, It's been an interesting few months it's been as we prepare to open Bay Haven to the public. The space is looking amazing, we've learned a lot, and our Founding Members have been instrumental in shaping the space and helping us figure out how to best serve our community. We will schedule our grand opening and first class sessions soon. Dear friends, Last week, we welcomed founding members into the studio to choose their shelves, pick up their first bags of clay, and start making art in the space. We're relying on this small cohort to play-test our space and give us lots of feedback as we continue to prep for our official opening. We're still a ways away from opening to the public, but thanks to this crew we're starting to get a good sense of what's working, what's not, and what we're missing. Photos from the last week Not...

Hi folks. What a month. I've been at the studio seven days a week most weeks, and our handypeople have helped us make so much progress. We've gotten our large kiln moved over, and have assembled our wheels. Most of our private studios have occupants now, and we're starting to build a wonderful artist community. We'll be opening so soon. I can't wait to invite you into the space to make art together, as a community. More updates below. Space updates We have another bathroomThanks to our...
